“A brilliant and much needed service.” - Melissa Oliverio, Reading Specialist (K-5), Rockville Centre, NY, USA

The nearly unchecked spread of online disinformation threatens our collective ability to make good decisions and be responsible members of our communities. It’s a massive, far-reaching issue that seems to have no obvious solution. The World Economic Forum has named online disinformation as the greatest short-term threat to our society, ahead of even climate change effects.

However, there are techniques that have been proven to slow the spread of online disinformation. Chief among them is teaching media literacy in schools. Many of the world’s democratic societies are already seeing good results from this strategy, but sadly the United States lags behind. This situation has forced American teachers who want to teach media literacy to scramble to find and adapt whatever materials they can.

The Clear Thought Project will be an online hub where those teachers can find ready-made tools they can use to hit the ground running, absolutely free of charge. There will be videos, downloads, access to groups of like-minded educators, and more. The guiding principle behind The Clear Thought Project is “teachers helping teachers” - because no one is better qualified to help a teacher than another teacher.

The film below is an example of the type of instructional material that will be available at The Clear Thought Project. Films like this will be supported with downloadable material that will help teachers customize the lesson for their classrooms. Please help me make The Clear Thought Project a reality. “I wasn’t taught how to assess information or how to do research … I don’t think I lacked intelligence but I was very naive about politics and how the world actually works.” - Brent Lee, podcaster and former conspiricist, The Guardian, 4 October 2023
